Mini blackout

About 30 minutes ago, there was this mini blackout. No biggie. The usual 30 minutes of lack of electricity. Sure, we could live through 30 minutes.

And 3-4 hours too. Seeing that no one died during the 3-4 hours of darkness when the whole Sarawak experienced a state-wide blackout. But what if it was for a day? 3 days? A week?

WE WOULD SUFFER.

Yes, some of us would die if we don't use the internet for a day. Some would die at night
from heat without air conditioning. Some would die without their charged up cells and iPods. Some would die just from the absence of electricity. You get the idea.

We're so spoilt that when a privilege is revoked from us, we whine and groan and complain.
 Remember guys, it's a PRIVILEGE

Yeah, i did all those during the short 30 minutes. Complaining  about the heat and all. Being sticky and sweaty isnt a state i'd want to be in after a nice cool shower. IT'S the BLOODY HEAT.
Global warming anyone?

That's something i wanna touch on.

GO GREEN!

Do your part! I'm doing mine! I love nature, im sure you guys do to!

Now is the part i tell you that by doing our own little share, we can create change. IT'S TRUE.
Here are a few everyone can do to help. And you know that you can do it, you're just not doing it. So i beg you guys.  pretty please? =(

  • going to buy some titbits? If your item list is small and less than 5,  tell the cashier you DONT need a plastic bag. Seriously, you DONT need it.  IF you're going shopping,  bring your own cute/chic tote and stuff everything in it (look cute while shopping!) . NO plastic. It's fine if the place you're shopping at uses paper bags. hooray for paper bags. Not only do they look better than plastic, they're biodegradable and recycleble. =D
    *cute no?*

  • CAR POOLING! You all know the logic behind this. Instead of going to school in 5 different cars, get a friend, or someone to bring you and your friends to school. IT's crazy fun, if your friend's driving. (but drive safe) Another alternative is to take the bus. It's also crazy cheap, but i know most of your asses are too spoilt to use the bus. IF not, walk or cycle. Not only are you reducing your carbon footprint, but you're exercising too. Look amazing while saving the planet!

  • *squee*

  • Save water! Cut down on those long-ass baths. Take SHOWERS. limit yourself to 10 minutes or less per shower. I do that too. I still smell great. =D And always remember to stop the flow while applying shampoo, or just soaping yourself. A good way is to shampoo, soap, and clean everything else before switching the water back on again. (after switching to showers, treat yourself to occasional baths. It feels wonderful!)*and dont masturbate while bathing. waste of water. =.=*

  • *uh, dont try to waste water like this photographer here. pretty but unnecessary*

  • Avoid buying bottled water. Use those seriously trendy aluminium bottles. Sure, they're expensive. But they look oh-so good, and all you have to do is refill them. Bottled water is a waste of plastic. Especially when people dont try to recycle them after use. Opt for the aluminium bottles.

OK, im out of ideas. These are just some of the small things we can do. Besides!  EVERYONE's going green. Be human, and give in to the herd mentality. Even sarawak club is doing it! Instead of polystyrene boxes, they're using paper boxes!! Go Sarawak club!

In other countries, plastic bags have been BANNED. I dont get why our country hasnt done so. Hmm.

For those who are also concerned, spread awareness through your blogs, or just to the people around you. Come on! Go green with me =D Just do a post every month about yourself doing something small but great for the environment. =D

*i expect joo, jess, clay, fion and zoe to do the same. go! tag others to do the same!*
